Willow Bay- 2/08/03
It was a cold yet sunny Saturday morning, and I was running late as usual. Nice drive to Willow Bay. We only had 8 reefs to complete here, but we needed to drill the trunks for our wire, and drag the trees into place. We're talking serious dragging through some deep snow. No motorized vehicles to the do work this day, only leg power. We used chipping bars to break the blocks loose, and Guy Waldman drilled the trunks.
Then it was on to Sugar Bay to put
together another 31 reefs. We arrived there only to find the wind blowing hard,
and the trees snowed under. While some of us were digging out trees, the rest
were dragging trees, and arranging the trees to be strung together. Meanwhile,
we built a fire to prepare for lunch and to brew some nice hot coffee.
We finished a little after noon, after having strung approximately 350 trees
together, and then enjoyed lunch and a bit of conversing.
Many thanks to Bob Boyer, Guy Waldman, Terry Koehler, Wally Dyne, Bill Barr, Merle Caldwell, Rian Rich, Nancy Rudolph, BJ Mague, Pat Vinca, Dick Shields, Jim Redding and Brent Pence, for making this such a productive day.
I don't have all of my pictures back yet, but here's what I have to date.
