Note: We refer to this program as Turkey Feeding, but in reality we are wildlife feeding. Grouse, squirrels, mice, deer and other animals use the feeders. Members maintain their own feeding sites individually; we supply the feed and feeders. We use scratch feed, which consists of cracked corn, wheat and oats. This formula is more nutritious, and less rich than corn alone. To attract birds to the feeders, we impale corn cobs on sticks 12-18 inches above the ground to hold them above the snow.
We have 9 feeders that we take care of on a regular basis. Some are located in the area's surrounding Kane, we have 1 in Wildcat Hollow, and 1 in Westline. We also feed near Sugar Run, Morrison Run, Chappel Fork and West Branch of the Tionesta.
Special thanks to Mr. Mark Bierbower's Vo-Ag classes from Kane High School, who built and donated many of our new turkey feeders.
