Crib project 9/27/03

Our project for this weekend was a deep water crib project. We met at Elijah Run boat launch, built 20 cribs, which were ferried one by one to near the mouth of Morrison Bay, where they were sunk in 50' to 60' of water. We had water everywhere this day, not only below the boat, but the clouds were full as well. They tried their best to empty themselves out on us, but there was plenty of rain for the whole day. Fortunately, it let up for awhile while we ate our lunch, but then started again. The temperature was about 60 degrees when we started, never rising above 65 degrees for the entire day. We had 9 people total for today's project, which proved to be enough as Bob Boyer and Guy Waldman had come down Friday to build all the bases for the cribs. Thanks guys!

Volunteers for today's projects included Bob Hoskin for the USACE, Brent Pence for the ANF, and representing Kinzua fish & Wildlife Association were Rob Abplanalp, Bob Boyer, Merle Caldwell, Wally Dyne, Ed Hanes, Robert Schmidt, and Rian Rich.

The total volunteer hours for today were 34 hours. Add to this yesterdays time spent building the base's, and the total is over 40 hours, or one normal work week to complete a project, which we usually accomplish between 8 am and noon. Many, many thanks to all the volunteers that make these projects so succesful!

We were finished with the project and enjoyed lunch at about 11:45 am. Now on to the pictures.
